Car Insurance Buick (Car Insurance). What would be a awesome first car for a teen like me?

What would be a awesome first car for a teen like me? I want something that would look cool for cheap. 1. Im not into body shapes like a camery or a forcus] 2. Trucks are alright but i don't wan't something that looks all redneckish or a dodge ram. (That what every wants at my school) 3. something not too expensive 4. Im a musician and i'd like something i can transport gear with. (like a guitar, 4X12 half stack amp, and maybe 2 or 3 pedals). 5. I think a Chevy El Camino would be pretty cool cause it's not like an average car, their convenient, and can look cool .

Ford Ranchero Corvette :P Hyundai Genesis Coupe. Hatchbacks can be really great for transportation and look great. Try a Civic hatch or even the Ford Focus hatch, it doesn't look anything like theirs sedans or coupes and they get great gas mileage! A little Ford Ranger would be a cheap great truck if you'd like to go that route. While I think the El Camino is a cool classic, they haven't been in production since 1987. With that in mind, they are now considered "collectible". Finding parts and maintaining upkeep could get expensive. Not to mention that most of them on the market are fetching big $. It should be 4-door, 4-cyls, not sporty. I would prefer Honda or Toyota... First time drivers usually have much more expensive car insurance, and it depends from car. You should compare insurance rates while choosing the car - for example here - carquotes.fateback.com

Buick . How to Cut Rotors

Cutting the rotors when performing disc brake service on a vehicle is not quite as common as it used to be. While many old-school mechanics still swear by cutting rotors for every brake job, manufacturing companies like GM do not always agree. Replacement rotor pricing has come down the past few years, so replacing rotors is sometimes more of a viable option. Turning, cutting, resurfacing or truing (all different terms for the same task) rotors has to be done on a bench brake lathe or on the hub of a vehicle with an on-car brake lathe. Because of cost, the bench brake lathe is much more common in repair shops.
Difficulty:Moderately Challenging
Instructions Things You'll Need
Safety glasses
Brake lathe
Rotor(s)

Step by Step :
1
Put on safety glasses and then place a bell clamp face first on the arbor of the brake lathe for hubless rotors. These are more common now than hubbed rotors.
2
Brake the tension spring inside the cup of the bell clamp and then match up a centering cone that will fit inside the center of the rotor.
3
Place the rotor on the arbor with the front or top of the rotor facing away from the brake lathe. Sit the center of it onto the centering cone and then place a bell clamp onto the arbor. This time, have the bell clamp cup facing the center hub of the rotor.
4
Place an adapter on the arbor for spacing until the arbor is filled with enough room to accommodate the concave/convex washer and arbor nut. Once near the end, place the concave/convex spacing washer on the arbor and the arbor nut. Most bench brake lathes employ reverse threads on the arbor tips and nuts. This means you'll tighten the nut in a counterclockwise manner and loosen it in a clockwise manner. Tighten the nut the lathe wrench until it secures the components on the arbor.
5
Wrap the silencer band around the circumference of the rotor. Make sure the band will not come into contact with the cutting blades in any spot.
6
Make sure the rear lateral arm (for drum resurfacing) is back off all the way and then locked. Turn the handwheel until the arm is all the way back. Locate the finger locks for the arm up on top of the arm and turn them clockwise to secure it.
7
Unlock the rotor cutting arm (if locked) by turning the finger locks counterclockwise and then turn the handwheel to align the cutting blades over the rotor. If necessary, adjust the measurement wheels to fit the cutting blades over the rotor.
8
Turn the lathe on and then adjust the outer measuring wheel until the outside cutting blade contacts the rotor. Do the same for the inside blade. Back the blade adjusters off slightly and turn the handwheel to move down the entire surface of the rotor plate. Be careful not to cut into the surface of the center hub of the rotor.
9
Retighten the blade adjusters and then turn each measuring wheel about 3/1000 to make a cut on a the blade. Place the lathe on high speed to start and then put the arm gear into position. This will allow the arm to move along the surface of the rotor.

Step by Step :
10
Continue on high speed cuts (making sure you're not taking off too much material) until the surface of the rotor is clean and moving in between 2/1000 and 3/1000 of measurement each time you reset the cut. On the final cut of the rotor, turn the lathe down to low speed and make a slow cut.
Tips & Warnings
Hubbed rotors employ the same cutting procedure but use a slightly different arbor setup. An adapter is placed on the arbor first, then the rotor facing out. No tension spring is used. Then two more adapters against the front face of the rotor for spacing. The concave/convex washer and the arbor nut are then placed on the arbor before tightening. The rest of the cutting procedure remains the same.

On-car lathes are brought over to a vehicle on a lift. The brake caliper and pads are removed and the vehicle is placed in neutral gear to allow the wheels to turn. The lathe cutting bits are then attached to the surface of the rotor and the rotor is trued to the hub of the vehicle.

Rotors should be measured and compared to discard specifications charts before cutting. A rotor should not be cut below its discard specification.

Buick . How to Replace Pads Without Changing Rotors

Disc brakes slow your vehicle down when the brake calipers compress the brake pads against the brake rotors. This friction of the pads coming against the rotors will slow or stop your vehicle. All this friction will create wear, necessitating the replacement of the brake pads. Although disc brake rotors will eventually need to be replaced, the rotors are made from cast iron and should last through several sets of brake pads. The brake pads can be replaced without having to remove the rotors.
Difficulty:Moderate
Instructions Things You'll Need
Hydraulic jack
2 jack stands
Lug wrench
Adjustable wrench
Flat-head screwdriver
2 bungee cords
C-clamp

Step by Step :
1
Raise your vehicle with a hydraulic jack and place jack stands under the vehicle's frame. Lower the hydraulic jack. Remove the wheels by loosening and removing the lug nuts with a lug wrench in a counterclockwise direction. Lower the wheels to the ground.
2
Remove the brake caliper holding bolts (though it can vary, usually there are two bolts) in a counter-clockwise direction with an adjustable wrench. Slide the caliper off of the rotor. Be careful: The flexible rubber brake hose will still be attached to the caliper.
3
Slide the brake pads (two per caliper) out of the caliper. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to pry the pads out if necessary. Hang the caliper to the vehicle's wheel well with a bungee cord, so you don't strain the rubber brake hose.
4
Compress the pistons back into the caliper by attaching a C-clamp to the back of the caliper and over the end of the piston and tightening it down by turning the handle in a clockwise direction. Remove the C-clamp once the piston is fully retracted into the caliper.
5
Slide the new brake pads into the caliper. Remove the bungee cord and slide the caliper back onto the rotor until the mounting holes line up. Replace the holding bolts and tighten them with an adjustable wrench in a clockwise direction.
6
Repeat these steps for the other side of the vehicle. Replace the wheels and tighten the lug nuts with a lug wrench in a clockwise direction. Raise the hydraulic jack enough to release the jack stands and remove them. Lower the hydraulic jack slowly and set it aside. Re-tighten the lug nuts with the lug wrench.
Tips & Warnings
After replacing pads, check your brake fluid in the master cylinder located on the firewall under the hood. Remove the master cylinder cap and add fluid to the full mark if necessary.

To avoid adverse handling or braking performance, always replace brake pads in pairs on the same axle. Never replace pads on just one wheel.

continue to run for a short while after the engine is shut off. Chapter 14 has instructions for adjusting and replacing fan belts and other accessory belts. The Water Pump The water pump (see Figures 8-1 and 8-3) draws the liquid from the radiator through the bottom radiator hose and sends it to the engine, where it circulates through water jackets located around the combustion chambers in the cylinders and other hot spots. An accessory belt drives some water pumps, while some overhead cam engines drive the water pump with the timing belt. If the timing belt drives your water pump, the water pump will be difficult to see unless you remove the plastic timing belt cover. engine quickly. Here's how — and why — it does this: The thermostat is a small, metal, heat-sensitive valve (see Figure 8-4) that's usually located where the upper radiator hose meets the top of the engine. (On a few vehicles, you find the thermostat where the bottom hose joins the engine. Your owner's manual should tell you where yours is.) When it senses hot liquid, the thermostat allows the liquid to pass through. But when the thermostat senses that the liquid is cold (like when you first start your car in the morning), it shuts and doesn't allow the liquid to circulate through the radiator (refer to Figure 8-1). As a result, the liquid stays in the engine, where it gets hot as the engine warms up, and in turn, the increasing heat of the liquid helps the engine to warm up more quickly. As a result, the vehicle runs more efficiently and burns less fuel. Figure 8-4: A thermostat. The Heater Core The heater core is located inside the vehicle between the instrument panel and the firewall. It looks like a miniature radiator minus the fill neck and cap. The purpose of the heater core is to provide heat for the passenger compart ment. The same liquid that the water pump circulates throughout the engine

also circulates through the heater core when the engine is operating. When you get chilly, you can direct air across the heater core and heat the interior of your vehicle by turning on the inside fan. Because the heater core is rela tively "passive," it usually doesn't need attention (unless it breaks). 166 Part II: What Makes It Go? That's all you need to know about the parts involved in the cooling system and how they work. Of course, some vehicles have more complicated systems, or variations on the theme, such as two fans run by electric thermostats that aren't connected to the water pump at all. These go on independently and draw air in to cool the engine when necessary. But in general, if you understand the way the basic cooling system works, you should have little trouble handling the one in your vehicle. Chapter 14 provides instructions for troubleshooting, maintaining, and making simple repairs. Air Conditioning Air conditioning is fast becoming standard equipment, rather than an option, on most vehicles. It uses refrigerant to remove the heat from the air (rather than cooling it) and a blower to send the cool air into the passenger compartment.

Until 1992, a refrigerant called CFC-12 (commonly called Freon) was standard on most vehicles. When it was found to contribute to the depletion of the ozone layer, CFC-12 was phased out and replaced by R-134a. Production of CFC-12 ceased at the end of 1995, and, although the stuff can be recycled, supplies may be limited. If your vehicle was built before 1992, you may have trouble getting Freon if you need to replace the air conditioner's refrigerant. Conversions to an alter native refrigerant (R-134a) are expensive, so think about this fact before buying a pre-1992 used vehicle or undertaking expensive repairs on one you already own. Chapter 14 has suggestions on extending the life of your air conditioner and tips on servicing it and finding out what it would cost to convert from CFC-12 Freon to R-I34a refrigerant. Chapter 9
